Thanks so much for this! Does “Join” mean you are signing up for the event or does it just mean you’ll be notified of the event? Not clear to me, sorry. Still so many website things I don’t know!

If you mean the “sfcritters” groups, “join” means signing up to be notified of group events. We have not yet scheduled anything… but I spoke with @artex last week and we discussed starting up the reading soon, maybe next month…going a chapter every other week for 4 months. We’ll have to see how interested participants’ schedules line up.

Here is a copy of the text (with computese context info)
from “you” (CC) that gets emailed to me:

BODY {font-family=“Arial”} TT {font-family=“Courier New”} BLOCKQUOTE.CITE {padding-left:0.5em; margin-left:0; margin-right:0; margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0; border-left:“solid 2”;}

Do you know why all the “junk letters” get inserted?
Not just CC, but happens now (last few years) increasingly from most all websites. Is this because I am not ala mode re: software-gear ?

(I never know who to ask such “dumb” questions!)
Thanks.

Hi Maia, that’s not a dumb question at all. It looks like your computer is not displaying certain characters (such as left/right tilted quotation marks and ellipses) properly. There may be a technical reason for this having to do with different ‘character encodings’ and which one your computer (or email program, or web browser) is using by default, and it cannot read those characters.

If you private message me with a screenshot, I could likely help troublehshoot. You may just need to change your default encoding to read Unicode (which is standard on the web), for example, and I could point you in the right direction for how to do that.
