Visionary Voices Read Aloud - William Blake's Songs of Innocence and of Experience

Continuing the discussion from Milton, Blake, Whitman (Savitri complementary) Reading Group - Blake on Milton

As part of our series of readings in visionary poetry, we are revisiting William Blakes’s beloved cycle of song-poems. We have previously read The Marriage of Heaven and Hell and are braiding our multiple readings with a full reading of John Milton’s Paradise Lost as well as selections from Walt Whitman and possibly other poets.

Our first talk on the Songs begins with some meta-reflections regarding our reading trajectory as a whole. Then we focus in on the poems “The Little Black Boy” and “The Chimney Sweeper.”
