A few members are looking for a place to watch and talk about films together. Ideas so far include documentaries like Innsaei, surrealist shorts like Un Chien Andalou, Studio Ghibli, and avant-garde work such as Yoko Ono’s Film No. 1.
We’re gathering interest now. Tell us on this thread the films you’d suggest and days/times that work for you so we can set a date and add it to the calendar!
I would love to watch and discuss movies with this community. Unfortunately my schedule is fairly stacked, between the art and work loads I carry… I’ll defer to the rest of the group, and plug in if I’m able!
Would there be any interest in watching Season Two of “Heated Rivalry” when it airs (sometime next year, I think) and then holding virtual group discussions after each session? HR is not only a game-changing queer romance; season one was also a superb work of art on all counts, and on a modest budget at that.
I am still working my way through season 1 of Heated Rivalry. Also I have been slowly working through allof Studio Ghibli. Am open to talking aboutanything I have seen or watching together new stuff…
Hi! I am super excited about the idea of a Consciousness Film Club in Cosmos Coop! I would be able to participate more via online written forum than committed set days/times for video calls but would sign on if I’m available. I’m in a European time zone, so mornings in The Americas would be my best chance, but don’t let my limited availability hold back anyone else able to meet via video call.
Thinking about your comment, @AmyMAndersonArt , and others who might prefer to respond asynchronously and written —
Perhaps we choose one film per interval, make a post about it (including where/how to watch it) in the Commons, then give a 1-2 week window for folks to comment, with the option for a live/synchronous “Cafe” style Zoom discussion for those who can/want to?
I love that idea @AmyMAndersonArt and @care_save! Should we vote on what we can watch first? I haven’t watched Heated Rivalry or Studio Ghibli but I’m open to both. I would also propose that we perhaps choose a film, instead of a series, since it is less time consuming… and with awards season around the corner there are a bunch of great films coming out!
