Dear readers,
Our publishing imprint Untimely Books just released its ninth title, and it’s a gripping ride. Messioph: the First Book of Ido, by Metapsychosis senior editor Geoffreyjen Edwards, is a deeply personal work that explores child abuse and intergenerational family secrets—but it’s also a tour de force of futuristic world-building, speculating on how innovations in biotechnology, stellar engineering, and quantum warfare could play out many thousands of years in the future.

Learn more about Messioph and Edwards’ unique journey from academic scientist to sci-fi author and gender activist. And if you’d like to be an early reviewer, go to NetGallery, set up a free account, and receive a free copy. Messioph is available in e-book and special-edition hardcover formats at this time. Visit UntimelyBooks.com for purchase options.
In other community news, our next Acousmatic Crossings live event is coming up in just one week. Into The Sonic Aether—Acousmatic Crossings Live Diffusion No. 3, with composers Amanda Stuart and Ali Balighi, will be hosted by Metapsychosis music editor and curator, Michael Eisenberg, and will provide not only the opportunity to deeply listen to selected Acousmatic works in a community setting, but also to interact with the composers of these visionary works.

This week in Metapsychosis also brings the first installment of a multi-part essay series exploring a cinema classic, Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, from the perspectives of depth psychology, gender theory, and a personal trans experience of “queer synchronicity.”

On Hitchcock’s Vertigo: Jungian Alchemy, Queer Synchronicity, and the Nature of Gender, by Devon Hansen, is not only an accomplished, highly accessible, and unique work of cinema criticism, but also a contribution to the para-academic realm of “weird studies.” Hansen reads Scottie Ferguson as a closeted trans woman haunted by her unrealized self—and argues the film started analyzing her back.
We’d especially love to hear your thoughts on this piece in our community forum, where Lamella Matsangos (author of The Male Lesbian Manifesto, due out from Untimely Books in 2026) has already offered some substantial reflections in her penetrating manner.
Finally, an invitation. Metapsychosis journal is looking for editorial readers, who would like to help us review and evaluate submissions, as well as participate in discussions (including future reading groups) that amplify and deepen the reception of our creative work. This would be a great opportunity for anyone who resonates with our mission to publish visionary literature, art, music, and would like to develop their own editorial and writing skills. If you’re interested, simply reply to this message—and also feel free to pass this invitation along to anyone you think would be a good fit.
As always, we welcome your support and invite you to become a Metapsychosis Patron which includes access to posting and private channels in our community forum, as well as reading and writing groups and priority consideration for publication. It’s only $7/month or $75/year, and also comes with special perks such as collaboration opportunities with our community of writers and artists. A warm welcome to our newest patron, @iamsamanthadenise!
And with that, I bid you adieu until next time. Have a beautiful week!
