Enjoyed your Pele discourse – fire, water, the sacredness of natural objects, strong women and contrasting style of parentage – all of it!..
Especially after seeing the “goddess herself” twice – or at least experiencing the Kilauea lava flows in person – I have become forever enamored with the Big Island and its amazing variety of natural expression! Yes, hiking through the Volcano National Park again… on my personal bucket list… .
Decades later I painted this work, finished last year: “Pele’s Song”, 40in. x 30in. , oil stick, acrylic, glitter & mixed media on wood panel. The title came afterward, of course and seemingly out of nowhere – but you can probably see why
