The Artist in the Age of the Personal Brand

This might the best article I’ve read summing up the rationale for Cosmos—at least on a socioeconomic level. This is what we’re up against.

In my mind, Cosmos will be successful if frees as many artists as humanly possible to make the best art they possibly can—which I believe means we have go beyond the endless BS of the personal branding rat race and create an alternative system that actually benefits us all; while addressing the larger issues of the planet.

My hope is that Cosmos can take some of the burden of the attention economy off the individual artist’s shoulders. But still, that means we have to get good at playing the game—or better, changing the game—together.
