Brian, your essays are dreamlike, your thoughts are long and deep.

And yes, we must choose the third way.

Part Two of this essay is now published. Enjoy!

“Real humility creates openings; the false type shuts them down. If prophesy does depend on our ability to see clearly into the moment, whatever this moment might be—to boldly recognize patterns that are just beginning to emerge or to probe into patterns that have long been in existence, but which, for whatever reason, have not yet become visible—then our success may come more from a set of classical virtues than from a bag of occult powers. We have only to differentiate real virtues from their substitutes.”

Here’s the heart of one of the oldest human dilmmas. That “only” makes me smile. Only. We only have to become capable of discerning true virtue from artificial virtue. This one of the branches of learning the great patterns of life and the cosmos, of wisdom and of love.

Why am I replying to you, Marco? Because when I go to the published essay page, it has no invitation to join the discussion, like it always has before.

That invitation should be there now, Maía, if you reload your page. It did not display at first because of a glitch.
