TRANSMISSION: Dispatches from the Beyond, the In-Between, and the Ever-Present

Dear friends,

I’ve been in a retreat for the past week (with 2 weeks to go), so must keep this email brief. As Mary mentioned in last week’s transmission, we are on the verge of our summer break, which will begin formally after next week. But an extraordinary week, with expansive offerings in the visual and audio realms, it will be!

This week, we have two new excellent selections of poems to share, and I will let them (mostly) speak for themselves.

First: a selection of poems by Harika Manjunath, with a powerfully transmissive recorded reading by the author:

The Silence is Speaking: A Letter from Turīya to the Waking World

Second: a subtle, poetic meditation on, among other things, in my reading of it, the crucible of transformation, by Douglas Thornton:

The Uninitiated

And to complement these new publications, here’s one from our recent archives that I feel didn’t get the attention it deserves at the time, by Morgan Dix. But the season may be ripe now for this:

Dancing Bear Men’s Retreat – Song & Poem

If any of this poetry moves you, please do share your thoughts in the comments or in our forum. It really does mean a lot to us, as authors and editors, to hear from you.

Also, to show your support and help keep this journal going strong, consider becoming a patron. (And a big thank you to our newest patron, Michael!)

It is an honor, and I’m truly grateful, to get to work with the amazing poets, writers, artists, musicians, and editors that I do—to bring freshly creative and humanly intelligent work into the world; and I do not take it for granted. Thank you for reading, listening, sharing, receiving, and giving back (or paying forward) whatever you can.

We’ll be back next week with one more update before our summer break. In the meantime, have a beautiful week!
