a break from assumptions — an invocation and commentary on cognition

the reading:

the text:

whatever lies you let slip
through the supple sieve of your mind
may amount in you
root and stem of your suffering

sympathetical illusions make cruel mistresses.
the brain fills in the blanks
conjuring imitation solutions
missing something. messing up.
mistaking.
supposing.

the subtle rot eroding knowledge
through laying routes that, reinforced, become ruts
and enclose and reduce encounters
leading nowhere fruitful, read: dead ends.
drains down which we pour the waste
unprocessed, of our squandered interactions.

rather,
deprive your trust of what experience contradicts.
let the flaws in your sensemaking break
your coveted system to bits.

the break liberates. lets you breathe.
fragments evaporate at your feet.

defenestrate taut beliefs.
relinquish the self-knot
—reconcile it not.

find a lightening relief.

enter stream
exit knowing
and be free, if not sure

This is a little appetizer for the kind of spoken word / “preach” style (in the prophetic tradition, decidedly) work I want to publish in the world, and through Cosmos Co-op.

Specifically I have a 13 part, 13 minute sermon series I’m working on, called Stream Entry, that I hope to livestream to a private Fractal Praxis channel, located here in InfiniteConversations.

If you like this, let me know, because I’ll feel more impetus to keep working on Stream Entry

yes, I like this very much, and it’s only recently when I started reading Sufi poetry (after acquiring the rudimentary use of tools to understand them, in some basic way) that I’ve began to appreciate the beauty of prose like this.

Your writing (sort of) reminds me of this and would definitely be up for reading more!

Thank you so much for these kind words, Michael. I’m honored that you compare my style to Sufi poetry. And I’m so glad to know I’d have your support for writing and putting out more! :folded_hands:

Kudos for using the word “defenestrate” so gloriously
