Welcome to Infinite Conversations

Infinite Conversations is a forum dedicated to cooperative dialogue among intellectual peers. It’s a place for open inquiry, critical reflection, and creative collaboration with the goal of generating and sustaining an evolving community of discourse.

Infinite Conversations is also the forum for Cosmos Cooperative, serving as a hub for conversations across all our projects, including comments on published media and discussion about the co-op itself.

Membership

Infinite Conversations is free and open to join for anyone who will abide by our guidelines.

Create a free user account with an email and password; or connect with your existing Facebook, Google, or Twitter account for automatic login.

Your free user account enables replying on public topics, which gives you the chance to get your feet wet before venturing into deeper waters. If you do not yet have an account, click the Sign Up button to get started.

Become a Sustaining Member

Once you feel that you might like to stick around and lead some discussions—or if you’d simply like to show your support—you can become a sustaining member.

Infinite Conversations is 100% member-funded and will be cooperatively owned when fully incorporated. We do not show ads, and we do not sell your data. We support the platform through your financial contribution of $3/month or more, which pays for web hosting and community projects.

Your financial support keep the forum alive and well-tended—and also grants full posting privileges (letting you create your own topics) in our public channels. In addition, you can participate in our live podcasts and video dialogues such as the Cosmos Café. (Well, they might let you in anyway, even if you don’t pay—if you’re nice. It’s just that kind of place.)

We operate on Gift Economy principles, and gladly accept non-monetary contributions, so if you’d like to contribute in alternative ways, please post a message to our guides.

That said, money talks (i.e., is a form of symbolic communication, too) and we’re not totally post-capitalist yet, so here is how to actually help us pay for stuff:

Join our Open Collective

Open Collective is an open-source platform where distributed groups can collect money and pay for expenses. Kind of like Patreon, but for groups.

A few tips:

Before creating your first post, you may want to…

  • Visit the TOP page to see the most actively discussed topics in the last month.
  • Visit the CHANNELS page to see the overall structure of the forum, and get a broad overview of the different kinds of discussion going on here.

Once you’re signed in and have looked around a bit, please be sure to update your personal profile, and if you’d like to say a little more, introduce yourself.

A note about terminology:

What other forums might call “categories,” we call “channels.” We have channels and sub-channels.

Each individual thread is called a topic.

A topic is composed of replies to the original post under the topic title. Each reply is it own linkable post—and there can also be replies to replies. That’s as deep as the nesting goes. If you need to take a conversation in a different direction, please start a new topic.
